{"id":1764,"date":"2018-12-26T19:52:05","date_gmt":"2018-12-26T19:52:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/africanyouthcommission.org\/?p=1764"},"modified":"2018-12-26T19:52:05","modified_gmt":"2018-12-26T19:52:05","slug":"ayc-at-african-leaders-of-peace-summit-cape-town-august-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/africanyouthcommission.org\/new\/2018\/12\/26\/ayc-at-african-leaders-of-peace-summit-cape-town-august-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"AYC at African Leaders of Peace Summit, Cape Town, August 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>SUMMIT AIMS TO FIND SOLUTIONS TO ACHIEVE PEACE IN AFRICA &#8211; by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ewn.co.za\/Contributors\/kaylynn-palm\">Kaylynn\u00a0Palm<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Government ministries, civil society organisations and youth groups from across Africa and the globe have gathered in Cape Town to spread a message of peace.\u00a0 <strong>AYC was a partner to the Summit and have contributed in mobilising participants and partners for the Summit.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CAPE TOWN &#8211; In an effort to find solutions to achieve peace in Africa and the world, the African Leaders of Peace Summit has been held in Cape Town this week.<\/p>\n<p>The two-day summit has been held in partnership with the International Women\u2019s Peace Group and Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light.<\/p>\n<p>Government ministries, civil society organisations and youth groups from across Africa and the globe have gathered in Cape Town to spread a message of peace.<\/p>\n<p>The summit has included various sessions for women, men and leaders.<\/p>\n<p>International Women\u2019s Peace Group Co-ordinator Cindy Chokoza says the aim of the summit is to bring leaders together to seek practical solutions for peacebuilding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe purpose of this event was to be able to continuously raise awareness for peace, but also to remember those that left a legacy for peace within Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Keynote speaker, Her Majesty Dr Semane Bonolo Molotlegi is encouraging women to work with men to address the challenges in society.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-error\" data-lang=\"en\" data-twitter-extracted-i1545845320724804037=\"true\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Venerable Phra Kitsakol Phaenoi of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Peaceforafrica?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Peaceforafrica<\/a>\u00a0leading a session of meditation for peace with various religious leaders\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ALPSummit2018?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ALPSummit2018<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/PeaceisPossible?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#PeaceisPossible<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JIYTqmkrYk\">pic.twitter.com\/JIYTqmkrYk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 African Leaders of Peace Summit (@ALPS_2018)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ALPS_2018\/status\/1029033270686695424?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 13, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll never go anywhere if we don\u2019t bring our men together.
